Distinguished Guests, Colleagues and Friends,

I have a great pleasure and honor to invite you to attend the the Fifth International Conference on Applied Geophysics for the first time in Ostrava/Czech Republic; the conference is scheduled on 27 and 28 June, 2019. The main organizer is VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Civil Engineering, staff of Department of Geotechnics and Underground Engineering. Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Central Mining Institute and AGH University of Science and Technology are co-organisers of this event.

The conference venue is located in the university campus in the outskirts of the city. The city Ostrava, called also the steel heart of the Czech Republic, is full of interesting technical monuments like Landek Park (http://www.landekpark.cz/o-nas), Lower Vítkovice (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lower_V%C3%ADtkovice), Michal Mine – point on the European Route of Industrial Heritage (https://www.dul-michal.cz/en) but also museums (e.g. http://www.ostrmuz.cz/website/mainmenu/muzeum/show.en.php) and very nice ZOO (http://www.zoo-ostrava.cz/en/).

The objective of the conference is to share knowledge and know-how in research and innovation solutions in wide aspects of applied geophysics and related topics. Accepted, peer-reviewed texts of 8-10 pages A-4 volume will be published in the open access formula at E3S Web of Conferences.

The conference fee is 160 euro (Early registration) for a period of 2 days, excluding accommodation. It covers one social event, coffee breaks, lunches and conference materials. We hope that Conference on Applied Geophysics 2019 will be both scientifically valuable and intellectually exciting meeting. We are also convinced that you discover in formerly black Ostrava the magic of industrial architecture which is listed in the European Cultural Heritage List and the nightlife at the famous Stodolní street.
