Distinguished Guests, Colleagues and Friends,

I have the great pleasure and honor to invite you to attend the Sixth International Conference on Applied Geophysics for the first time in Bucharest, ROMANIA; the conference is scheduled on 24 and 25 June, 2020. The main organizer is the University of Bucharest – Faculty of Geology and Geophysics, Department of Geophysics. The Romanian Society of Geophysics, the Geological Institute of Romania and the Romanian Academy – Geonomical Sciences Department are co-organizers of the conference. The Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Central Mining Institute, AGH University of Science and Technology, and Committee of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences are collaborators in organizing this event.

The conference venue (Romanian Academy Library) is located in the center of Bucharest, on Calea Victoriei (“Victory Avenue”), one of the city’s main north–south thoroughfares. Major public transportation hubs (buses and subway), such as Piaţa Victoriei (“Victory Square”) and Piaţa Romană (“The Roman Square”), are located in the proximity of the conference venue. Bucharest, the capital and the largest city of Romania, once nicknamed “The Little Paris” or “Paris of the East”, is full of cultural, historic and natural landmarks such as:

The objective of the conference is to share and exchange ideas, know-how and expertise in a broad range of Applied Geophysics and related topics. Accepted, peer-reviewed papers of 8–10 pages will be published electronically, as a Proceedings Volume, in the open access formula at E3S Web of Conferences (indexed in a series of major international databases). The authors of the best presentations will be invited to submit full-length articles to a special issue of Acta Geophysica journal.

The conference fee is 160 EUR (Early registration) for a period of 2 days, excluding accommodation. It covers coffee breaks, lunches, conference materials and social events. The Local Organizing Committee will provide accommodation suggestions, in hotels that are conveniently located in the area of the conference venue.

We sincerely hope that the Sixth International Conference on Applied Geophysics will be a high-level event for the geoscientific community and will provide a suitable platform for future cooperation in one of the most dynamic fields of Earth Sciences. We warmly welcome you to join us in Bucharest and we wish success to all participants!

Best regards,
